Motorola is steadily advancing its Android 16 update rollout to its older devices, with the latest recipients being the Edge 50 Ultra models. Currently, the update is available for units purchased in Brazil, delivering a firmware package labeled W1UV36H.61-15. This update is distributed over-the-air and comes as a 1.64GB download.
As is common with such releases, the deployment is expected to be staged, meaning it may take several days before all Edge 50 Ultra devices in Brazil receive the update. Following this phase, Motorola aims to extend the update to more regions.
The Edge 50 Ultra launched last year running Android 14 and has since been upgraded to Android 15. It is slated to receive Android 17 in the future, after which no further major Android OS updates are planned for this model. Nevertheless, Motorola will continue supporting the device with security patches through April 2028.
